Hi,

For the retail customer, we will manage the new TIME dimension by WEEK

I created a new dimension TIME with LEVEL, PERIOD, YEAR and BASE_PERIOD.

I created a standard model (no financial or consolidation model)

Question 1 : Is it mandatory to manage the BASE_PERIOD ? According to SAP Help, the BASE_PERIOD is used for the query but there is not more explication

Question 2 : what is the codification to manage the week.

In standard, for the January month , the value is  1

In standard, for the February month , the value is   2

In standard, for the March month , the value is     3

In standard, for the 1 Quater  , the value is  3

Proposition

Week 1 :  10

Week 2 :  20

Week 3 :  30

Week 4 :  40

January : 100

Week 5 : 110

Kind regards

Bastien

Hi Vadim,

For my retail customer, we need only to manage the weeks and years.

But for the LEVEL property, according to help sap, we respect the chronology year - quarter month week

To answer this question : map week to months, the rule is the first day of week is month

Not clear - do you have months or quarters at all? Please show you hierarchy screenshot...

How do you map weeks to years? What is the start of your fiscal year?

P.S. I am asking all this questions because TIME with weeks create a lot of issues!

Lexique : Line 2 : S20 , S like Semaine=WEEK , like W20

For the moment, I dont input the value for the base_period because I dont known the codification

I dont indicate the value for month or quater, I hope that its not necessary.

OK, For the moment, I have one issue about  hierarchy HI, I have the following message : see SAP notes1700331, I think that I will detete this hierarchyH1  and use the properties PERIOD and YEAR for the query

Not sure that hierarchy with 2 levels will work at all... BPC is creating default measure (user can't change it) assuming that you have 3 levels. Also hidden hierarchies for YTD calculations are created... PERIOD property also has special requirements...

SP12 is old and has some issues with hierarchies... Also upgrade BW SP

Hi Vadim

I m not sur to understand your remaks:

- It must create an additional level to the hierarchy H1 in order to have 3 level? the new values in order to manage the month ?

- Can you indicate the special requirements for the PERIOD property ?

Unfortunately it was never documented... A lot of things depend on TIME dimension properties:

Rules (currency conversion, carry forward, consolidation...)

Script logic calculation

Measure formulas

Thanks Vadim

I applied the SAP note 2132804, the warning message has disappeared.

So now, the las t question is : it is necessary to manage the values of the proprieties BASE_PERIOD and if yes what is the codification

It depends what do you want to do with the model? Rules, etc...

BASE_PERIOD - is a numeric field, use sequential numbers for base periods...

It's a standard model, so the rules is limited

For the moment, it is not planned to use the properties BASE_PERIOD (I dont not this utility)

I suggest to close this message and recreate the now message if I have an issue

Thanks Vadim
