BPC 10 - Model setting 'Use as Source of data'

Hello,

Our intention is to turn on the 'Use as Source of data' in one of the model>features.

Please advise if this is a transportable setting or this setting should be turned on manually in each system in the landscape.

If this is transportable, what exactly should be collected in RSA1 please? The Model structure alone?

I found some old threads which indicate this needs to be turned on manually in each system. Am not sure if that has changed since then.

Yes, this setting is transportable. Just collect the Model.

Not sure if the generated Virtual Provider can be deleted in QA and Prod if you uncheck this feature in Dev.

Hi Gersh,

We transported the model and config as below, and it created the transient cube and query as expected in the target system.

However the problem is looks like it also transported the server report folders and input folders to target system. how is this possible? Please advise.

The transport request looks clean and it contains only the two objects collected above.

Report folders are already there as soon as you create Models. Did it transport anything inside those folders?

What I meant is target system had only 5 folders. Now there are 8 folders after transport. (extra 3 are only found in Dev and not intended to be transported)...

Are those additional 3 folders customer built or they were generated by BPC?

That 3 folder might be for the characteristics generated for use model as source system - for virtual provider. Check whether those are generated after you have change the settings in development.

Hi Gersh,

Do you know what all needs to be selected for the setting "Use as Source of Data" to transfer?  Just the Model or do the objects below need to be transported.  We want to transport the least amount in the model as possible.

On SAP's advise we transported Model and 'Cons_integration_enabled' parameter(under configuration) alone to get 'Source of data' flag enabled.

On the original folder transport problem, SAP replied as attached.

And this resolved the problem.

Those are custom folders and created by BPCADMIN in Dev system earlier for some other testing.

Can you collect Transport for that Environment again and check if those folders are collected anywhere? If you can't see then try using "search" button.
