BPC 10 Backup Restore issue

Hi Experts,

I am trying to Backup data from Production system which has almost 300 million records and want to restore to QA.

Backup & Restore both jobs are showing successful but when I do reconciliation between QA & Prod, I am getting difference in almost all years.

I checked in BW infocube and found there are some records missing in QA (not being restored).

Note: I had deleted all data from QA before restore.

any help much appreciated.

Hi Wasi,

Prior to backing up an Application Set, it is a good practice to Process all the Dimensions and Optimize all the Applications present within the Source Application Set which we intend to backup. This would ensure to prevent any data inconsistency issues, close all the open requests present and compress the applications.

Common issues while using Backup and Restore functionality..

• If the service pack on which backup and restore functionality being used is SP5 or less than that, there would be memory issues while backup and restoring, to overcome this we need to delete unnecessary log files... Goto T-Code UJFS, Goto root->web folders-> (Application Set ID) -> (Application Name)->private publications->(domain name)->(user name)->temp files, Delete all the files under that. This should be done for all the applications to minimize the memory while backing up the Application Set. Any way the files being deleted are log files and will not impact the functionality of the Application Set.
• If the option “Use Tech Names from Backup Files” is not checked while restoring the Application Set, then the Application Set would be created with different technical Names. Then the standard transport functionality cannot be implemented as BW treats the restored Application Set differently from the Source Application Set present in other landscape.

1) We have BPC 10 NW SP10

2) Job is completed successfully and data is restored in the correct models.

Problem is only few records are missing from QA and we tries two times but still getting the same issue.

Hi Wasi,

You have to provide more info about the mentioned "only few records"! What is specific? How you compare results etc...

Without additional info this discussion is a waste of time!

Hi Vadim,

Can you tell me what information you need?

it is not specific records, some random numbers are missing like:

one records from 2010.JAN ACTUAL

two records from 2014.JAN PLAN

for Comparison:

1) I did using EPM Reports -- created one report on Prod environment and another on QA environment

wherever I found mismatch I take the selection criteria, I went to respective SAP BW Cude and found that records is missing in QA as compare to Prod

Please show evidence for some record using RSA1. Also provide EPM report screenshots!

Issue is not in EPM or RSA1.

issue is in Backup or Restore.

seems like no one has faced before. even we did backup/restore lots of time before without issue.

not sure what is going now.

If you don't want to provide the detailed info then I am unable to help you. I have seen number of issues with UJBR results but I need the details!
