BPC 10.1: Cannot delete Dimension Members from BPC Administration

Hi there,

I am starting the implementation of BPC 10.1 Consolidation for my customer and I am facing the following issue:

All my cubes are empty and I am trying to delete a member from a dimension:

Then when I save and process the dimension:

When the dimension has been processed, the member is back:

Do you have any idea why I am not able to delete any members (This is applicable for all my dimension)?

I have a work around by doing the deletion direclty in BW via RSA1 (and also execute the program UJA_REFRESH_DIM_CACHE) but i would like to do my administration from BPC and not from BW.

Thanks in advance for you help

Best Regards

Louis

Hi Carlos,

It's meaningless to ask for the solution of the complex issue without providing your own details and what was done by yourself... "same" is not a description!

Hi Vadim,

By same I mean exactly the same, as it is described by Louis. And yes, the user has the BPC_SERVICE role assigned.

Hi Carlos,

No unfortunately I didn't fix this issue.

If you find something, please let me know.

Currently, I have a work around by doing the deletion direclty in BW via RSA1 and also execute the program UJA_REFRESH_DIM_CACHE.

Hi Louis,

This problem was solved after asking Basis to upgrade to last SP (0007).

Hi all,

Thanks a lot for your help.

The thing is, even if I create from scratch a new dimension and I don't link this dimension to any model, I still can't delete any member of the dimension.

Example:

  1. I create the dimension INTERNALORDER. This dimension is not linked to any models
  2. I create 3 members in this dimension
  3. I save and process the dimension
  4. When I am trying to delete 1 of the 3 members, the member will automatically come back (CF screenshot of the initial posr)

Thanks

Hi Louis,

Same question again: do you have access to the back-end to check what is in job log for that Dimension Processing?

Hi Gersh,

Yes I have access to BW system. I checked in SM37 and the Job finished successfully:

Hi Louis,

Can you please check under what ID that job ran? It should have ran under BPC_SERVICE ID or whatever ID is assigned in your system to admin jobs. And that ID should have SAP_BPC_SERVICE Role.

Hi Gersh,

Thanks for your quick answer. The user is BPC_SERVICE and has the following roles:

  • SAP_BPC_ADMIN
  • SAP_BPC_BTCH_JOB
  • SAP_BPC_SERVICE
  • SAP_BPC_SERVICE
  • SAP_BPC_SYSADMIN
  • SAP_BPC_USER
  • SAP_BPC_WS_USER

Thanks

For some reason your screen shot shows user 800017.

800017 is my user ID and my roles for are:

  • /POA/BUI_FLEX_CLIENT
  • /POA/BUI_UM_USER
  • /POA/CLM_BPC_USER
  • SAP_BPC_ADMIN
  • SAP_BPC_USER
  • SAP_BPC_WS_USER
  • SAP_BW_BI_ADMINISTRATOR
  • SAP_BW_CONTENT_ADMIN
  • Z:S_FUNCTIONAL_NHR
  • ZBPC_....

Do I need the role SAP_BPC_SERVICE?

Thanks

No, this is right. As long as SM37 shows BPC_SERVICE.

So, you are saying that after Dimension processing finishes successfully that member is still in BW InfoObject, right?

Can you please check if Role SAP_BPC_SERVICE hasn't been modified from delivered Role. Particularly authorization to delete records from a BW InfoObject.

Thanks,

Gersh

I checked the role and the last modification has been done by SAP the 14.11.2013.

So the role hasn't been modified

Then I'd suggest opening an OSS incident.

Hi Louis,

Have you tried RSRV transaction?

Hi Louis,

It's not only Model. If that member is used in BPF, Reports, Authorizations etc. you won't be able to delete it.

Do you have access to the back-end (BW) to check what the background processing job reported?

Gersh

Thanks Anil and Vadim,

I made a lite and full optimize (with zero elimination) and the issue persist.

Do you have any other ideas?

Thanks a lot for your help

Hi Louis,

First you eject the dimension and member from any other application which being used after that you remove member from offline mode, process the dimension offline mode.Reason is dimension and member being used in another application then BPC can't delete anything.

Check if you still have zeros in the members to be deleted!

May be you have zero's... preventing you to delete the members! Use optimize with zero elimination!
