BPC 10.0 NW on Oracle - Scheduling DM package to run at the server side

Dear All,

I need to schedule a DM package to run at a particular date/time. I believe BPC Excel addin provides that, but it gets scheduled at the client machine. If I need to schedule it to run the server[BPC 10.0 NW on Oracle], how can I do that?

Thanks for the help in advance!

Regards,
Peri

Vadim,

Yes, it should not be scheduled at the client side. For server side scheduling, how can I do that?

Thank you!

Sorry, but it's scheduled on the server, not on the client!

P.S. I mean that when you schedule DM task in the Excel EPM interface on the local PC -  it's scheduled on the server!

Vadim,

I thought it is scheduled at client machine. Let me check and get back to you ...

Vadim,

You are right! It is stored at the server. But, I am not able to see the job name at the BW back end(using SM37). Is there any way, I can see the job details at the BW side as is? i.e. including job name specified using the Excel addin front end?

Thanks,

Peri

Vadim,

I have just noticed that, even though, the job is scheduled at the server, it is run under the time zone specified by the client/developer machine.

i.e. if the client/developer machine is running under Indian Standard Time(IST), the job is being run for that time zone - IST. It seems, if we want to run the job under the server's time zone, we need to convert the time zone from the client/developer machine time zone to that of the CLIENT's/server's  actual time zone, say CST or PST or EST. I have tested this and to me, this looks strange.

Or, am I missing anything in this process?

Thank you,

Peri

Hi Peri,

Never tested the case with different time zones for client and server But at least you know how to calculate the proper time! Suggest the idea to improve (like checkbox to use server time)!

Vadim,

Further to my testing, noticed that the job is getting executed instantly - regardless of client and server time zones which is strange. I am still working on this.

Hello,

Try the following:

Schedule the package from DM for a time in the future.  This will create a job on the server side and keep it as scheduled job.  Then go to server and execute SM37.  Find the job and adjust the time and date based on the server side time and date.

Thanks, Leila!

Managed to see the job details using SM37. But, I could not see some of the the job details that I specified using Excel addin DM package scheduling interface.

Also, I could not filter jobs by user id - the id I used to create jobs at DM package scheduler. Is there any way, I can see those details using SM37?

At BW side(using SM37), I am seeing BPC_SERVICE as user id even though it was created by somebody else, say, XXXXXX. But, I should be able to see the jobs' original owner. Any way, I can see that?

Thank you!

Peri

Hi Peri,

Yes, the job name defined in BPC client is no visible in SM37. But the user is visible:

Thank you, Vadim,

In my case, 'Job Created By' column shows BPC_SERVICE as user id. And, I am not able to see my ID anywhere in the BW screen. This is strange... at least for auditing purpose, original user id should be available. Not sure if this is possible at BW side.

Please talk to your basis team...!

As you can see in my case the user ID is correct.
