Best Practice for Productive Indicator During Asset Migration (ECC 6.0 → S/4HANA)

Hello everyone,

We are currently migrating from SAP ECC 6.0 to S/4HANA and are in the post-SUM activities, specifically the customizing migration for financial accounting and data migration.

During the asset migration, we encountered an issue where the system did not allow the migration due to the productive indicator being set. As a workaround, we temporarily changed the productive indicator to "Test" to proceed with the migration.

Now, we are wondering:
What is the best practice during the migration?

  • Should the productive indicator be set to "Test" for the entire migration process?
  • Are there alternative recommended approaches to handle this restriction?

We would appreciate any insights and recommendations based on your experience!

The company code can be set to productive in OBY6 but in asset accounting (FAA_CMP tode in S/4HANA) it must be set up "For Testing" until all conversion tasks are completed (customizing conversion as well as data migration).
