Assigning Functional Area to Existing Cost Center Postings

Dear SAP Experts,

I have a cost center that already has postings but currently does not have a functional area assigned to it. I would now like to assign a functional area to this cost center and have the previous postings reflect this assignment so that the data appears correctly in the financial statements.

Is there a way to achieve this?
