Advanced Bank Account Management (J77) - Create Bank account fields missing

Hello Experts!

I am testing the scope item Advanced Bank Account Management (J77) and in the step 4.2.2.2.1.6 (create bank account) / 6 (Maintain Internal Bank Account Contact) I don't see the field 'Contact Persons' in the 'Bank Relatinship' section. Why is that?

Thank you in advance!

Hello @Wayne10

Thank you for the screenshot; that clarifies the situation very well. What you are seeing is expected in SAP S/4HANA Public Cloud.

Within the Starter system, SAP enables a wider range of fields, including the entire Bank Relationship section, which includes Contact Persons for demo and exploration purposes.

On the Customising and Production systems, these fields aren't released for live use. That is the reason why you would not see the section in your tenant, even though CBC shows related settings.

This is not a CBC switch you can enable; the section is simply not part of the delivered bank account masters in the public Cloud.

The Recommendations Provided by SAP

Keep responsible contacts at Business Partner level for the bank master data, or use the Custom Fields and Logic app if you need additional account-level fields in Manage Bank Accounts.

As the test script you mentioned is generic, it still includes steps relevant to on-premise or private cloud environments, which is why the Maintain Internal Bank Account Contact step shows up, even though it is not applicable in a public cloud setting.

Useful SAP Official References

The Starter system displays this for demonstration purposes, but in live systems, the Bank Relationship section is not provided. Please use BP or custom fields if you need to record this information.

With kind regards

Chuma

@Wayne10 Have you checked the configuration activity Manage Field Status Groups? The contact person fields may have been set to hidden.

Hello Amy! Yes I have checked it but the configuration activity is 100% the same as it is in the starter system so that isn't the solution unfortunately.

Hi Amy, we're currently facing a similar issue, where the Bank Account Characteristic field can be configured in CBC and is displayed correctly in the Starter system, but in our customizing environment, it is also configurable, and shown as editable in field status groups, but it doesn't show up in the Manage Bank Accounts app ( neither as editable field or even selectable column/filter in the list). Do you know a solution for that?

Hello dear user,

And thank you for asking your question in the SAP Community blog.

In SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition, the Advanced Bank Account Management scope item (J77) has some differences from the on-premise or private cloud versions, especially in terms of UI layout and available fields.

Why You Don't See the "Contact Persons" Field

The "Contact Persons" field under the Bank Relationship section in step 4.2.2.2.1.6 (Maintain Internal Bank Account Contact) may not be visible due to one or more of the following reasons:

1. App Version Differences

In S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition, SAP often hides fields that are not actively used in standard processes or that require custom extensions. This includes fields like Contact Persons.

So if you're using the "Manage Bank Accounts" app, it may not include the "Contact Persons" field by default in the UI.

2. Field Not Enabled in Business Configuration

Some fields require activation through the "Custom Fields and Logic" app or SSCUI / CBC configuration. The "Contact Persons" field may exist in the data model but is not enabled in the current business configuration.

3. Field Removed or Deprecated in Cloud Version

SAP continuously simplifies UI elements in the Cloud Public Edition. It’s possible that the Contact Persons field was deprecated or removed in recent versions. In fact, in the latest SAP Fiori apps for Bank Account Management, contact information is often handled centrally through Business Partner master data, not directly on the bank account.

What You Can Do

Option 1: Use "Custom Fields and Logic"

  1. Go to App: Custom Fields
  2. Check if you can add a custom field (type "Contact Person") to the Bank Account business context.
  3. Publish and adapt the UI to make it visible in the Manage Bank Accounts app.

Option 2: Maintain Contact via Business Partner

SAP best practice encourages managing contact details at the Business Partner level (for the bank itself), instead of the bank account level.

In SAP Help Portal and SAP Best Practices Explorer for scope item J77, SAP does not explicitly list "Contact Persons" as a required or default field in the Public Cloud version. That step might refer to a Private Cloud or older documentation, or to custom fields added in the past.

I hope this will help you answer your question.

Best regards,

Jeremy

Hello Jeremy, the same fields are availabile in our Starter system but not in Customizing system. I suppose it's a CBC activity since but the test script doesn't say anything about that. And it's not just the contact persons, it's the whole Bank Relatiopnship section. Please take a look at my screenshot from the Starter system.
