Hi,
I am trying to understand how works the internal CC activation scheduler. Especially in the integrated scenario like BRIM.
I have few questions:
- according to the documentation: "This scheduler is provided only for compatibility purpose with older versions of SAP Convergent Charging. Since version 3.0, SAP recommends that you implement the external manual, automated or scheduled triggering of the activation of periodic fees...". Does it mean that, in BRIM setup with CRM and ERP, the activation should be developed in CRM or ERP?
- it looks like scheduled activation can be omitted due to other activation in the same server instance. is there any way to have all runs even with some delay. to avoid waiting for the next recurrence?
- periodic activation reports how many contracts and subscriptions were activated. I have noticed that it also includes suspended contracts (in CRM they are cancelled). how to avoid processing activation on cancelled contracts in CRM?
- some of subscriber accounts could exists in the system without contract yet. are they processed during periodic activation? the question is actually if the activation is per subscriber account or per provider contracts and subscriptions in the system?
best regards
Rafal

Hello Rafal,
this is a mistake in the documentation. The activation scheduler is still recommended in most of the cases.
If you are using SAP CC in a real-time context, I recommend you to use the scheduler (set for a daily occurrence, each night).
If you are using SAP CC in a batch context, I recommend you to use admin+ or the webservice Activate Charging Contracts in Bulk.
You can also use the webservice activate if you need to activate a single subscriber account. (you can use this webservice in addition of the scheduler.

Hello Eric,
it means that there are few possibilities to activate contracts. Either by the internal scheduler(automatic) or Admin+(manual) or webservice call (can be manual or automatic).
The webservice Activate Charging Contracts in Bulk needs to be implemented. Also I see that there is another webservice jobStatusRead to monitor it.
In BRIM it might be implemented and for example added to SCMA steps in ECC.
In BRIM Best Practice documents F53 and F63 we se configuration for several CC webservices. Unfortunate I cannot find Activate Charging Contracts in Bulk as predefined. Also I cannot find any example of the implementation.
How should look like an implementation of such webservice calls to activate all needed contracts before invoicing will start? which steps it should cover? and how to avoid collision with internal scheduler?
best regards
Rafal
