SAP Convergent Charging 2022 FPS2

New Release

PUBLIC

May 2023

Dear Convergent Charging and BRIM community, We are delighted to announce yet another new release of SAP Convergent Charging 2022 FPS 02. With this release, we continue to add new features and capabilities such as improved functionality for searching and exporting data from mapping tables in the cockpit, new pricing components, and improved security for RESTful APIs.

This blog provides the latest and greatest SAP CC 2022 FPS 02 highlights of our pricing and charging platform, part of the SAP Billing and Revenue Innovation Management (BRIM) suite.

IMPROVED EXPORT OF DATA FROM MAPPING TABLES IN THE COCKPIT

Pricing specialists want the flexibility to use filters to select a subset of data stored in a mapping table. We have extended this feature to export this sub-set of pre-selected data from the table.

Export of Data from Mapping Tables

We added a new Export split menu option that allows pricing specialists to:

  • Export a subset of data from the mapping table based on defined filter criteria (default action) or

  • Export all the data stored in the mapping table

This new feature enhances the use of the Mapping Table tools in the cockpit, makes it easier to select and export specific segments of stored data, and generally improves the overall user experience

You can learn more about this new feature from the following article on the SAP Help Portal: Exporting Mapping Table Rows to a File.

SEARCH FIELDS FOR MAPPING TABLE AND RANGE TABLE CLASSES IN THE COCKPIT

Often, a pricing specialist will want to find specific input and output columns in the mapping table or range table classes. We have made this process much easier by providing a new search field that simplifies the process of searching for input or output columns of the mapping table and range table classes in the cockpit.

This new feature greatly simplifies the use of mapping tables and range tables as well as enhances the overall user experience for users of the cockpit.

PRICING COMPONENTS ENHANCEMENTS

We continue to enhance the pricing configuration in the cockpit, this time with 2 new components :

  • Addition component

  • Rule-Based Property Introduction component

Addition Component

The Addition component is part of a new category of pricing components called “Aggregators” and it is used to aggregate the sum of multiple distinctly computed amounts, each computed amount derived from its own distinct rules and calculations.

The following diagram illustrates the use of the Addition component to aggregate multiple computed amounts:

Addition component in pricing trees

The advantage of the Addition component is obvious as it now allows more complex pricing and business scenarios to be supported in a pricing tree.

Rule-Based Property Introduction

In some cases, a Pricing Specialist might want to determine a string or number property based on the value of another string or number property. The Rule-Based Property Introduction component is designed specifically to help achieve this goal. A property could be analyzed for different values, and based on the value, a new property is generated with a predefined value.

The following diagram illustrates the Rule-Based Property Introduction component in action:

Rule-Based Property Introduction component

The Rule-Based Property Introduction component acts like a switch statement in many programming languages. It introduces support for more complex decision-making to be applied in your pricing logic and hence allows support for more advanced pricing scenarios.

API IMPROVEMENTS

In addition to improvements to the user experience, we have also enhanced the underlining APIs to facilitate more features in integration scenarios and better security.

Here are the 2 main API improvements made in this release:

New RESTful APIs to retrieve audit-related Information

We have released APIs that can read audit data (including snapshots) from SAP Convergent Charging. These APIs are aligned with our overall modernization effort by aligning with REST design principles.

The new RESTful APIs provide the following capabilities:

  • To search for user operations based on criteria like date, user, and object identifier… with paging management

  • To retrieve an object snapshot in XML format

The new audit APIs external applications to easily query SAP Convergent Charging for auditing and reporting purposes.

The new APIs have been published in the SAP Business Accelerator Hub. For more information please review them directly on SAP Business Accelerator Hub.

OAuth 2.0 support for RESTful APIs

Another major addition to this new release is the implementation of OAuth 2.0 server-to-server authorization flow for RESTful APIs.

The new OAuth 2.0 support provides the following features:

  • Support for JSON Web Token in each HTTP request as a bearer token

  • Charging, Loading, Audit Data, and SCIM RESTful APIs

  • Recording of the user identifier specified in the token in the audit logs for better audit tracing

In addition to improved security compliance, the new OAuth 2.0 support for RESTful APIs allows increased security in using SAP Convergent Charging RESTful APIs and improved user management when authenticating with SAP Convergent Charging in a separate and centralized integrated environment.
