We’re delighted to announce the general availability of
SAP Convergent Charging 5.0 Support Package 6 (SP 6). With SP 6, we continue our UX renovation to provide a best-in-class, consistent, and modern user experience to our customers through the adoption of the SAP Fiori user experience design. In particular, we now provide the ability for pricing specialists to quickly configure structures of data generated out of the price calculation process, seamlessly integrated within the SAP BRIM suite and to manually enter usage data, request the price calculation – either real or simulated – and instantly get the results – whether it is for testing pricing algorithms, demonstrating them, or manually correcting pricing errors. With SP 6, we also enhanced shared allowances.
This blog provides you with the latest and greatest SP 6 highlights of our pricing and charging platform, part of the
SAP Billing and Revenue Innovation Management (BRIM) suite.
User Experience
Faster and more intuitive management of charged item classes with a new SAP Fiori app for pricing specialists
Charged item classes are structures of output data – called
charged items – generated by SAP Convergent Charging out of the price calculation process for one-time, recurring, and usage-based fees.
When Convergent Charging is integrated with Convergent Invoicing, whether in S/4HANA or S/4HANA Cloud, charged items are converted into
billable items through the so-called
billable item mapping and uploaded to Convergent Invoicing for billing and invoicing purposes.
With SP 6, a new Fiori app –
Manage Charged Item Classes – is available in the SAP Convergent Charging Cockpit. It allows pricing specialists to search, view, create, edit, and delete charged item classes and their associated billable item mappings.
Faster and more intuitive processing of chargeable items with a new SAP Fiori app for pricing specialists
With SP 6, a new Fiori app –
Process a Chargeable Item – is available in the SAP Convergent Charging Cockpit. It allows pricing specialists to manually process chargeable items and, in particular, to:
- define a chargeable item, representing a consumption of a customer for instance
- request the processing of the chargeable item, whether it is real or simulated
- check processing results
- save the scenario to a file
Pricing specialists can use this app for different use cases like processing chargeable items in a production landscape, demoing the product during training sessions or customer meetings, or testing the behavior of a charge plan during the implementation phase.
Functional Enhancements
Enhanced shared allowance management for B2B businesses
As of SP 6, the shared allowance concept is enhanced with the increment counter feature in addition to the existing decrement counter one. More precisely, pricing specialists can define increment counters as part of shared allowances so that they can be incremented and read by separate subscriber accounts located in different rater processes potentially. The integration with Subscription Order Management (SOM) is enriched to include this feature in products available for ordering.
With this enhanced shared allowance management, pricing specialists are now able, for example, to implement new B2B pricing models where the price depends on the aggregation of consumptions across units of a company.
