Are you a new SAP CPQ customer or partner who has recently purchased SAP CPQ standard edition and would like to know how to get started?

In this blog I am going to address some common questions we receive from our customers when they sign a new contract.  I will also point you to some helpful resources that the SAP Onboarding Center have developed to assist our valued customer and partners.

  • What happens after the SAP CPQ contract is signed?
The Technical Contact listed on your contract will receive SAP CPQ system provisioning emails on the contract start date.  That contact will also be sent an S-user ID (if they do not have one already ) and assigned the Cloud Administrator role for the SAP CPQ system.  Your Cloud Administrator should create S-user IDs for the team working on the project and assign appropriate authorizations to the S-User IDs.  Here is a useful user management landing page.  If you do not know who your SAP CPQ Cloud Administrator is, you can check via My Important Contacts in SAP for Me.

  • What is an S-User Id and who needs one?
S-user ID gives access to your company-specific information on the SAP for Me portal,  support tools, product documentation, training courses, and many more service and information offerings.  Team members who will be implementing, administering and supporting the SAP CPQ system (as well as any other SAP solution) need an S-user.  Your system end-users do not need one.

  • SAP for Me
SAP for Me is SAP's customer and partner portal. Here you can see your portfolio of products, contact SAP Product Support, create S-users, see licensing information and more. The areas you can access in SAP for Me depends on your S-user authorizations.  Once you have your S-User, you should make yourself familiar with SAP for Me.

  • How do I access the system and start configuring SAP CPQ?
Once you have the SAP CPQ provisioning emails, you can access the SAP CPQ system and start creating user accounts.  You can use the SAP CPQ Setup and Administration and guides on the SAP CPQ Help Portal to help you get started.

  • SAP CPQ Solution Upgrades
SAP CPQ is upgraded on a quarterly basis.  The release schedule is listed on the SAP CPQ Help Portal.  The SAP CPQ Product Management team hold a webinar prior to each release to inform you on what updates and new functionalities will come with the new release.  Your SAP CPQ team should sign up to receive notifications for when the product upgrades will occur via the Cloud Subscription Notification System.

The SAP CPQ Onboarding Webinar covers all of these topics in detail as well as others such as:

  • The complimentary Deployment Readiness Check that is available to all of our SAP CPQ customers

  • SAP CPQ Implementation recommendations.

  • SAP CPQ Empowerment resources.

  • Integration Options for SAP CPQ

  • SAP CPQ Product Support

  • SAP Enterprise Support

The SAP CPQ Onboarding Webinar is held on a monthly basis and recordings are available for those who can not attend live.  By  listening to the Onboarding webinar you can be confident that you have all the information you need to help you get started with SAP CPQ.
