In this blog post, I would like to provide a step-by-step guide to help you configure and integrate SAP Document and Reporting Compliance, cloud edition with SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition or SAP S/4HANA Private Edition, specifically for electronic submission of statutory reports.

The communication and integration of SAP Document and Reporting Compliance, cloud edition is available for a number of supported compliance reports per country / region (in both S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition and S/4HANA Cloud Private Edition or On-Premise). Through the list(s) above, all already delivered supported compliance tasks which relates to Submitting Statutory Reports Using SAP Document and Reporting Compliance, Cloud Edition as supported submission types are relevant for communication setup and application configuration.

This blog post will provide you with a walkthrough to help you navigate through the different configuration aspects within the SAP Help portal.  With simple setup steps and the configuration of your environment you will achieve proper communication of your business system with SAP Document and Reporting Compliance, cloud edition and authentication to the tax authorities.

The value of the integration between SAP S/4HANA business systems and SAP Document and Reporting Compliance, cloud edition lies in the fact the setup of the various steps shown below need to be done only once for communication purpose – once done the main communication is then available for all reports.

Then, once you have completed specific application configuration for your reporting entity and communication settings specific for your report, a single click submits the report from your business system (through the application Run Statutory Reporting) and triggers the entire flow to electronic submit to the tax authority.

The configuration/set up required for each compliance report is depicted below:

Configuration on SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition business system:

  • Scope Item Activation (78L): Before starting, SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition must have the communication scenario SAP_COM_0854 available for configuration of the communication in your business system.  If your report is listed on the S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition supported compliance tasks with supported submission type as  Submitting Statutory Reports Using SAP Document and Reporting Compliance, Cloud Edition, please request activation of the scope item 78L (more information in the SAP Note 3387894).
  • Onboarding to the SAP Document and Reporting Compliance, cloud edition: If you have entitlement through your license then the next step is the Initial Setup of SAP Document and Reporting Compliance, cloud edition.
  • Connecting the Cloud Edition and the Business System: After onboarding, you must setup the Integration of SAP Document and Reporting Compliance, cloud edition with your S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition business system.
  • Reporting Configuration in the Business System and Cloud Edition: The final step is the specific configuration for your report.  Here you need to complete the following two main configurations:
    • Configure your process-specific setting and authentication method for your reports per country/region in the SAP Document and Reporting Compliance, cloud edition (SAP BTP). Please verify it per your specific report at Process-Specific Setting.
    • Configure each statutory report by following the steps in the individual configuration documentation. This can be found by navigating to the links in the Reports column in the Reports Enabled for Electronic Submission..

Configuration on SAP S/4HANA Cloud Private Edition business systems:

  • Implementing Required SAP Notes: Before starting, the SAP S/4HANA Private Cloud Edition or On-Premise must contain the required implementation objects.  Each report includes these note details in the Supported Compliance Tasks by Country/Region table. To find this information, search by Country/Region and Task and the specific Submission Implementation Overview SAP Note. For example, if you search for United Kingdom and the task VAT Return, the Submission Implementation Overview SAP Note 3386362 appears in the Technical Information column.
  • Onboarding to the SAP Document and Reporting Compliance, cloud edition: If you have entitlement through your license then the next step is the Initial Setup of SAP Document and Reporting Compliance, cloud edition.
  • Connecting the Cloud Edition and the Business System: After onboarding, you must setup the Integration of SAP Document and Reporting Compliance, cloud edition with your S/4HANA business system.
You can find the configuration documentation in SAP S/4HANA by navigating to the links in the Reports column in the Reports Enabled for Electronic Submission.

I hope this guide can provide a comprehensive understanding of the configuration steps and where to find all relevant information for the configuration of the communication setup in SAP S/4HANA Document and Reporting Compliance, cloud edition and SAP S/4HANA Cloud business systems.

Thank you and see you next time.
