Hey everyone, SAP Community members!
March is here, ready to see what's new and improved in SAP PaPM Cloud UM? Let me walk you through all the latest features and enhancements for SAP Profitability and Performance Management Cloud – Universal Model (SAP PaPM Cloud UM)
If you want to catch up the previous blog posts from my colleague, you can always go through and read them all using this tag PaPMCloudUMWhatsNew .
Let’s begin!
Some of the functions in PaPM, such as Derivation, Model Derivation, Calculation and Model Calculation, have this feature called Rule Result Field. This is an optional setting that allows the user to define a string field that will contain the rule ID of a specific rule that is being used, and it will be shown in the Data Screen. Having that in place, a field that is already assigned to the Rule Result Field can no longer be used in the Assignments section of any rule. A validation error will be encountered for this kind of scenario
Data Authorization in Dynamic Rule and Rule Element
An enhancement has been introduced in relation on maintaining dynamic rule in activity’s Show Rule screen and in Show Report and Show Page Rule Element.
This enhancement affects activity, report and page users as there will be an additional data authorization applied when maintaining dynamic rules. The user will only be now authorized to create and maintain rules based on the data authorization they have from the Activity Field Selection on Show, Data Privilege and Data Locks configuration.
When users access the activity’s Show Rule screen, Show Report and Show Page (Rule Element), the user will only be able to view and manage rules based on the assigned data authorization to the user.
With assigned role authorization (PROCESS_ALL and/or REPORT_ALL), the user will be able to create a dynamic rule for all data and view all existing rules.
In addition to that, the user will also be able to view all data from the Input and Result tabs.
Manage Activities > Show Rules
Manage Reports > Show Report
Manage Pages > Show Page
Then, if the user has data authorization restrictions, for example, the user is only authorized to read and write the String field data for values between “String 01” – “String 04", the user will only be able to create dynamic rule for the specific data set and view existing rules related to it.
In addition to that, the user will only be able to view the data they have authorization in the Input and Result tabs.
Manage Activities > Show Rules
Manage Reports > Show Report
Manage Pages > Show Page
During this month, we enhanced inline editing of reports’ show elements. Similarly in the Data Screen, you can now perform the following:
This enhancement makes it easier to work with data directly in Reports screen, without navigating into separate pages.
Here’s a quick look at the new functionality:
A new Edit/Delete icon (called Show Actions) has been introduced in the top right of show element, when editing mode is switched on.
When clicked, it displays a panel with two options:
This enables users to efficiently manage multiple records directly within the Show screen, following the same logic applied in individual elements.
2. Deleting Records
Hidden Condition Logic
Please note that the same hidden condition logic that applies in the standard Data Screen is enforced now in Reports’ Show Element.
NOTE: Hidden Conditions are settings that let users define rules to show or hide specific data records or fields based on predefined criteria. If a field meets the specified conditions, it will be hidden or displayed in the edit panel accordingly. The visibility of a field updates dynamically based on dependencies—for example, if one field’s value controls another field’s visibility, the system automatically adjusts it when the value changes.
Hidden conditions can be configured within the Adapt UI feature, which is accessible from the Data Screen.
That’s it for now!
I hope this new feature and enhancement makes your work with SAP PaPM UM better. Stay tuned for more “What’s New” post, coming in every first week of the Month. Share this blogpost with your colleagues and friends. Thank you!
