Expending on the regular “What’s New in GRC” blog series, I’d like to focus this post on SAP solutions for International Trade. If you are not yet familiar with this pillar of SAP’s Governance, Risk, and Compliance portfolio, then I’d suggest having a look at a blog published some time ago – What really is SAP Governance, Risk, and Compliance (GRC)? – Focus on the International Trade Manage... – it introduces the 3 products that compose this area: SAP Global Trade Services, SAP S/4HANA for international trade, and last but certainly not least, SAP Watch List Screening.
There are regular innovations released on all solutions of course, but today I want to provide an update specifically regarding SAP Watch List Screening since Product Management, working with Engineering, have delivered a long-awaited capability: the integration with the SAP Business Partner module in SAP S/4HANA Cloud.
This enhancement is an answer to direct customer feedback who wanted the screening of their business partners to be more automated and effortless. But also more proactive.
With SAP S4HANA Cloud 2408, SAP Watch List Screening is now integrated with the Business Partner module. Organizations can therefore now screen customers or suppliers master data for natural persons or organizations that might be listed as sanctioned parties.
With this integration, when a business partner is created or changed within the “Customer” or “Supplier” categories, their names and addresses are automatically screened in the background by SAP Watch List Screening. The screening results are then shown in the business partner status. Should a match be retrieved, an investigation record is created in SAP Watch List Screening and an indication that a decision is pending is displayed in the business partner master data in SAP S/4HANA Cloud.
Once a screening specialist has reviewed the investigation record and decided on whether this is a true hit or a false positive, the record in the Cloud ERP is automatically released or continues to be blocked. This information is of course updated and displayed in the business partner master data, for the sales or purchasing colleagues.
Further, when an already screened business partner is used in a trade compliance document (for instance inbound or outbound delivery, sales or purchase contract, sales quotation, etc.), the result of the original screening can be re-used or a new, additional, screening can be executed. Depending on what has been set in the configurations.
Overview of the Business Partner integration:
In addition to the integration with Business Partner, 3 new SAP Fiori apps have also been released:
Ad Hoc Screening With this app, users can manually screen names and addresses against entries in a sanctioned party list. Results are then delivered immediately. There will be no publication or persistence of the ad hoc screening hits, so this is really designed for one-off screening such as for simulation purposes or to check visitors for instance. When the user opens the app, they can choose to screen a single name and address or a whole list at once. |
|
| Review Screening Hits With this app, users can get an overview of names that have been screened during a business transaction, where there was a match on a watch or sanctions list. They can then review the hits and decide whether the screened names constitute a true hit or a false positive. When a decision is made, it will trigger the release or block of the associated business objects. |
Manage Automatic Screening Decisions With this app, users can get an overview on all automatic screening decisions. They can then change decisions for future hits or deactivate decisions. This is quite crucial since these “learnings” then inform how the intelligent screening algorithm will apply in the future. Note: if you are interested in learning more about the intelligent screening topic, we have released a blog post on this capability a few weeks back. |

These new apps have been designed to enhance user experience with more robust features, a streamlined interface and context-sensitive help. They will eventually replace the previous apps so, if you have been using the old ones, we recommend you migrate your users.
Thankfully, the SAP colleagues have put together a migration guide available in the SAP Help Portal. For your convenience, I have summarized below the key steps:
