In our company, power users are given access to SQ02 in order to develop reports. The capability of this transaction is currently seriously restricted by the lack of authorisation to edit ABAP Code. If you try to do this you get error "You are not authorised to edit ABAP Code (AQ148)". I've put in a request but the IT Security Team are reticent to resolve it because "authorizations for S_DEVELOP is needed which actually should not get provided outside IT". How do other organisations resolve this. We are not looking for developer access but the ability to include simple ABAP Code in SQ02 is fairly fundamental. Surely there is a pragmatic way around this.

Hello,
For creating customised query you can develop a separate "z" program and include whatever constrains you would like to define. Also you can create a custom field in the query by choosing adding additional field from "extras" on top bar. There is an option to include code to fill that additional field then.
