Hi All,
I'm really struggling to try out XSteps for the 1st time.
Our production system is ECC6.0
We also have a test tystem updated through enhansement pack 4
We've been using SAP List Based PI Sheets for 10 years
We have used Browser Based PI Sheets successfully to a limited amount.
When I start the XSteps repository via transaction CMXSV I do see the Standard XSteps Folder, but it is empty.
I've read as much as I can find both on this forum and at the XSteps Cafe
I found what I think are the downloads that will populate the standard XSteps at this link:
http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/index?rid=/webcontent/uuid/7046be6d-cf8d-2910-67bc-89c0e64bed0f [original link is broken]
There are 3 download files: ( I doenloaded all 3 of them into different folders)
One says it is part 1 & 2
Another says it is part 3
Yet another says it is Complete (presumably parts 1, 2 & 3 in one download)
Next I went to transaction CMXSV.
I selected the empty folder that says "Standard XSteps"
I click on the "Change" button. SAP says "Selected nodes can be changed"
I follow menu path: XSteps > Import. SAP gives me popup to select file.
I select file: SXS Library Basics V1_0.XML
or I select file: SXS Library COMPLETE V1_0.XML
SAP reports Error: Characteristics of characteristic group PPPI_01 are not available in client 301. Data type PPPI_HYPERLINK cannot be used.
Same error reported in our systems with and without enhansement packs installed.
Can anyone tell me:
1) Are the actions I describe above correct ?
2) How do I get the missing PPPI Characteristics ?
3) What else am I missing ?
Kind Regards
Mike Rupp
Hi Mike,
we already talked about this via the XStep Café but I will also reply in this post.
1) You need to make sure that all the standard characteristics are transported into your current client (TA O23C)
2) Also ensure that all the predefind process message categories are copied into your plant(s) (TA O24C)
3) Only the basic library can be imported without any further steps
4) For the complete or advanced library you need to follow the documentation steps to create custom characteristics and function modules
Best regards,
Arne

Thanks Arne. I am up and running now.
Here is some additional advice to help others:
1) Go to the IMG and select "Activate Business Functions or just run TCode SFW5. This will start the Switch Framework. Open the Enterprise Extensions folder and make sure that EA-SCM is activated.
2) Get the Standard XSteps sample libraries using this link
http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/index?rid=/webcontent/uuid/7046be6d-cf8d-2910-67bc-89c0e64bed0f [original link is broken]
You will find 3 downloads (Basic, Advanced, & Complete). You can upload the Basic set into SAP right away, but the Advanced library requires you to create some new characteristics and function modules (FM code included in the documentation)
3) The Standard XSteps sample libraries each come with Documentation and an Installation Guide. Read these documents carefully and follow the instructions. Don't try to just figure it out yourself.
For example, here was my mistake:
-- I went to the SXS repository (TCode CMXSV),
-- selected the "Standard XSteps" folder,
-- went to the main menu and selected XSteps > Import,
-- pointed the import at the file "SXS Library BASICS V1_0.XML.
-- This resulted in another error.
The correct procedure is to
-- go to the SXS repository (TCode CMXSV),
-- right click the "Standard XSteps" folder and Createa new sub folder.
-- name the new folder whatever you like
-- Select your new folder and click the "CHANGE" button to allow changes
-- right click your new folder and select "Import SXS Folder"
-- point your import at the file "SXS Library BASICS V1_0.XML.
4) Go to the XStep Cafe web site and watch Arne's first session

List of other sessions
http://websha.de/xstepcafe/category/web-session/
Note there are currently 2 pages in the list. Use the <<Privious and Next>> links to navigate.
I hope this is helpful

Hello Arne and Mike,
In the new folder under the standard x-step , I am not getting the option "Import SXS Folder" in change mode . The option that are available to me are Create (Folder, Standard X-step), cut, delete , copy , expand , find , properties , and services (print).
Please advice .
