work center tech. data tab settings

Dear Gurus,

I have created work center, now I am using it into Routing of FG material.

when I am selecting this work center then I want that out of many operations only 2/3 operations only performed on this work center and this I want to configure.

For this, I found settings in technical data tab of W.C. at below side there is No. of Processes and also in Menu bar Extras ---> Operations assignments.

Now when I am trying to do settings in W.C., system is not supporting, even not giving any clue.

Plz guide me how can I do this? Is there any prerequisites for it?

HI Naresh,

I don't feel you can control this through work center technical tab.

And to add this control or check point in routing to check work center addition to maximum 3 operations only, you do not have any exits in routing.

But you can ask your ABAP person to check through available routing program if they can do this through implicit enhancement and achieve this.

This is my client requirement and I came to know that it will happen but how would, that I have to find?

Actually this can be done by configuration and this is my analysis that it can be done in work center technical data tab or at work center's, menu bar, Extras ----> Operations assignments.

Hi Naresh,

If i am not wrong, you are talking about CAPP = computer aided process planning, processes which are going to be assigned as the processes in work center, to calculate standard values and called in process planning.

These processes are created in CE31 transaction and used in CAPP.Below transactions helps to achieve this

I am not thorough in this topic as i have not used it, may be i can test and give you some inputs, somehow i am not feeling you requirement can be met with this option, because purpose of this is totally different. Let us see if any other forum member would have been experienced in it and can give more inputs.

Dear Naresh,

Check out below procedure to call process in work center as you wanted to understand. This is used in CAPP and i feel this is required by simulation of process planning where multiple activities are involved for same work center and you can combine all activities time based on formula and get this standard value calculation done in routing or production order and call it it for operation time.

If you go through link i provided, i understood this nothing but another master data like material master, work center which helps to analyze the routing operation time in simulation as well as in real for better process planning. There are many methods to maintain through characteristics, table etc See one example below.

How to create process and assign it,

1) Create characteristics for process for example drilling as an activity you call in technology tab, then for drilling you 3 defined process, and call 3 characteristics as A, B, and C

2) Create Formula in  CE11 and call these characteristics in formula as A+B+C and change status to active

3)Create method for this in CE21 and change status to active

4)Create process in CE31 and change status to active

5) Add this in work center and routing

Now you can see this in work center processes see below scree,

Use this in simulation mode in CE41 to check how it works.

Then you can use this in routing, if you do not maintain any value for machine and run this then based on values you maintain, through executing automatically the machine value get calculated and get assigned in routing. This you can use in production order.

This is regarding assigning Processes n work center, hope your doubt cleared.

Coming to your requirement, as i already told check with ABAP whether you can use any enhancement or BADI to restrict work center usage to only 3 operations.
