WM Config - 1st Default UoM for Warehouse number

Is anybody out there using the '1st default UoM' - Option M u2013 WM UoM also for other UoM in reference document. in Real time? If so, where and why it is used?

Path - WM config - master data - control parameter for warehouse number - weight/UoM

Hi

In the material master record you can define different units of measure for each material. In a business environment, for example, in the warehouse, only one unit of measure is used per material so that the user does not need to specify a unit for the quantities.

The defaults you define determine which unit of measure the system will propose if a user does not enter a unit of measure together with the material quantity. Initially, the system attempts to use the unit of measure defined in the material master record. If none is available in the material master, the system attempts to assign one of the defaults from the warehouse number record. If these defaults have not been maintained, the system uses the base unit of measur

Hi

The reason for this option is so that you can manage your stocks in the warehouse how you want as opposed to the settings at plant level

For instance the plant setting might be KG whereas you want to manage then stock in cases for ease of movement and picking

So in the alternative unit of measure in the material master additional date you could have that 10KG = 1 case and if Case is the WM unit of measure you can move cases around instead of KG

I hope that this helps

Hi Frenchy,

Essentially what you say is that, at Plant level UoM is KG and at Warehouse level UoM is Case, and the conversion is maintained in mat master. Now you use the option M (M u2013 WM UoM also for other UoM in reference document) so that WM documents take CASE as UoM.

But the same is achieved through option L (L - WM UoM)

What is the exact implication of option M?

I think the "M" option refers to using the WM UoM, but if it doesn't exist, use the UoM in the reference document.
