When creating sales orders using the SAP public cloud version, we've noticed that even after a billing document has been created, certain sales order information can still be changed. This includes key information such as the PO number, Incoterms, order type, and material quantity (which can be increased or decreased). Is it normal that the material quantity can be modified in both directions (increased or decreased) by using SAP public cloud version?

Hello,
In SAP S/4HANA Cloud, public edition, it is indeed possible to change certain information in sales orders even after a billing document has been created. Usually, business processes are designed to be flexible to accommodate various commercial necessities. The ability to adjust material quantities, both increased and decreased, reflects this flexibility.
Material Quantity Modification: Users are able to modify the material quantity in both directions post-billing because SAP caters to dynamic business environments Sales in SAP S/4HANA Cloud, Public Edition 2302 where order modifications might be required due to changes in demand, supply, or other logistic considerations.
Incoterms and PO Number: These can also be adjusted to reflect changes in delivery terms or fulfillment requirements.
This characteristic of SAP S/4HANA Cloud ensures that businesses maintain agility in their operations, allowing them to quickly respond to changes and maintain customer satisfaction.
While the behavior you’ve observed is normal, it’s advisable to implement controls or approvals for changes that significantly impact logistics or finances to ensure proper auditing and monitoring.
