When creating a BOM we are getting the error "Enter a Number with a maximum of 3 decimal places"

When creating BOM for FG material we are getting an error "Enter a Number with a maximum of 3 decimal places" 

we have components quantity of 0.000020PC and system is not accepting .

The reason why the error "Enter a Number with a maximum of 3 decimal places" is raised is outlined in the KBA https://me.sap.com/notes/3496095

The maximum allowed decimal length of the Quantity field is 3 and cannot be increased

As a solution change the BOM header base quantity to a larger number. With every factor 10 you add in the header you move the decimal 1 position to the left until you have the 3 decimals (or less) left. (see attachment)
