What would be the authorization to view journal entries and GL? How could I see which roles I have in my SAP that will give me access to that?

The authorization object would be "F_BKPF_BUK" which controls access to the financial accounting document header, along with the appropriate activity values, such as "03" for display, to grant access to view journal entries and GL.

To determine which roles in your SAP system would give you access to view journal entries and GL, you can use the transaction code "SUIM" to run report:
