What will happen to S4 Embedded BW after 2027?

Since maintenance for BW 7.5 will end on 2027 (extended to 2030), what will happen with S/4HANA Embedded BW beyond that date?

Since I just asked myself the same question, I thought I'd quickly post the result of my "research". SAP Note 2952947 states, when used in embedded mode, the maintenance window "is based on the maintenance window of the standalone product (ERP or S/4HANA) in which the function is integrated". This means, if you're using the embedded BW of a S/4 system, it should be supported until 2040.

It's going to be interesting to see, how this will work in practice. Is SAP going to keep maintaining 7.5 for embedded use or is it going to be upgraded to some limited version of BW/4HANA? In any case, you shouldn't expect any innovations or improvements on the embedded BW (as is the case right now already).

Hi johandalmau, I think nothing will change after 2027 (2030) except support of embedded BW within S/4. Custumers will be able to use it just it won't be supported in case no extended support is procured by the customer from SAP.

However, I'd suggest checking this topic with your account manager from SAP.

thanks for your reply. Actually, I was wandering what is SAP's plan for all customer's investments made in Embedded BW, for example implementation of "BPC Optimized for S/4HANA"; Does that mean we would have to migrate it to SAP Analytics Cloud Planning or BPC 11 on BW/4HANA?

And also, does that mean that future versions of S/4HANA won't have an Embedded BW?

The maintenance for SAP BW 7.5 will continue to the end of 2027 with extended maintenance to 2030.

SAP BW/4HANA will be aligned with the SAP S/4HANA maintenance extension and be maintained until at least 2040.

I am referring to the Embedded BW that comes inside every SAP ECC and S/4HANA. That BW is a BW 7.5 and as far as I know it won't be migrated to an "Embedded BW/4HANA". I would like to know what would happen to the implementations made there, for example with "BPC Optimized for S4/HANA" which use the embedded BW, and what is the future of that BW after 2030. Does that mean that S/4HANA won't come with an Embedded BW anymore?
