What is the main function for 'Item Cateogry' in the service order item in Fiori?

Dear Experts, There is one field called 'Item Category' in Service Order in Fiori. What is the main function for it? For example, if I selected 'Sales Item', what will be happen?

Hi,

for such queries I would always first have a look on the help portal and read the official fiori app documentation.

It states:

"An item category specifies the properties and attributes of each item. You use item categories to determine how items are processed, for example, the manner in which the items are billed."
