Dear,
We are troubleshooting an issue and it is unclear what the 'fra3' stands for in the FQDN:
Example: hecxxvyyyyyy.fra3.sap.<suffix_customer>
We suspect it's not 'Frankfurt' as we see the same 'fra3' at a customer that is residing at Azure Amsterdam...
And for SAP DC customers (base option), we see 'rot' instead of 'fra3' in the FQDN, most likely standing for datacenter St. Leon Rot in Germany.
Please explain.
Thanks, Steven.
Request clarification before answering.
"fra3" in the FQDN likely refers to an SAP data center region or availability zone, not necessarily the city Frankfurt.
SAP uses such codes to denote specific infrastructure zones within cloud provider regions (e.g., Azure, AWS).
"fra" typically represents Frankfurt, but "fra3" could be an internal SAP designation for a specific cluster or network segment.
The presence of "fra3" in Amsterdam suggests it may be a logical assignment rather than a strict geographical reference.
"rot" likely refers to SAP’s data center in St. LeonRot, Germany.
