We receive raw material from vendor "A" with batch number 01 at our Plant "001".We enter the results in the inspection lot and once UD done, we transfer the same material and same batch to other plants eg ."002", ""003", "004" , Inspection lots are created in plant 002, 003 and 004. The QA people of plant 002, 003 & 004 doesn't want to do inspection once again , since the material was approved in plant 001. .

How to copy the test result of plant 001 to the inspection lots created in plant 002,003 & 004. Any idea

So how are you doing the transfer to the other plants.and why are you creating the inspection lots in those downstream plants anyway?

If you don't create them in the first place, you don't have to worry about processing them.

If you just want to do a UD in the downstream plants and not record characteristics then turn off the indicator "check characteristics" for the 08 inspection type for those materials.

A second option would be to use a user exit when the inspection lot is created to see if an 01 inspection lot for the same material/batch exists in any other plant and then set the indicator "check characteristics" off in that inspection lot. That way it doesn't matter which plant got the first shipment in.

Or you can also use the user exit to change the inspection plan usage and select a plan with only optional characteristics. Then you can test the ones you want and ignore the others. So you can just make the UD without recording any results then.

Hi Graig,

Your answer has given me some insight, but curiosity makes me to ask you how can I copy the results of the same material , same batch across all plants. This has to be done because we do have customized vendor rating report.

Please learn the difference between an answer and a comment. I converted your "Answer" to a comment against my answer.

You can copy the results. That's been suggested and explained and there is a lot of SAP documentation available on that online and by reading the help in SAP using the F1 key and reading the configuration help docs.

Are your customized vender rating report based on results of individual characteristics? Most places use the Q-score of the UD when considering quality. If not then why do you need to copy the results, Make your inspection lots UD's only.

I'd also give serious consideration on how you do your vendor evaluation. Why are you crediting/evaluating a vendor in plant B when the shipment was shipped from plant A by your company? From your original posting you said YOU transferred the material to the second, third, etc.. plants. Not the vendor. So why is the vendor being evaluated for these secondary shipments in the other plants? That doesn't make any sense. They aren't even delivering to the plant. Off hand I'd say its downright dumb unless there is some other reason or you miss-wrote the post. I mean if they aren't handling the product and delivering it, what are you actually evaluating them on in those additional plants? They already got credit for quality at the original plant they delivered to. I totally don't get it.

Dear Vidhyadharan KP,

QM has a function called 'Copy Inspection Results'. It can be found at SAP Help:

https://help.sap.com/viewer/250374f0514e4e0f9057066374265eba/6.06.20/en-US/d71c901a-4e67-42cc-b8f3-4...

Read it through and search a bit in this topic, this might be the function you are looking for.

Have a nice day,
