Hi All,
I have a client where on one pc, the user has to enter the license server details on every login to SAP.
I have tried the following:
1. disable firewall
2. Disable antivirus
3. Re-install the client
4. SAP note 868000
None of these have made a differnece. all other users are working without having to do so.
Thanks in advance,
Kiran
Hi Kiran,
What is this PC's OS? Do any other users using their own login to the PC have the same problem?
Thanks,
Gordon

It is, yes. but thought the same would apply moving forward.
Symptom
User permissions for installation, upgrading and running of Business One
Cause
A clarificaton of the user permissions which are required for the installation, upgrading and runtime of SAP Business One
Solution
The following table summarizes the requirements and recommendations for the group set up according to the operating systems:
Operating System: WIN NT
Client Install - Minimum: Users. Recommended: Users
Client Upgrade - Minimum: Users. Recommended: Users
Runtime - Minimum: Users. Recommended: Users
Operating System: WIN 2000 & WIN XP
Client Install - Minimum: Power Users. Recommended: Power Users
Client Upgrade - Minimum: Power Users. Recommended: Power Users
Runtime - Minimum: Users. Recommended: Power Users
Remarks: The group "Users" in Win NT is equivalent to "Power Users" in Win 2000 and Win XP.
According to Microsoft, the group "users" in Win 2000 is not designed for installations, and does not have permissions to perform actions likeinstallation and upgrades.
Below are some links to documents by Microsoft that cover the security definitions in Win 2000 and Win XP.
1. Overview of groups in Win2000/XP:
2. Default access control settings for Win2000: describes specific permissions of Users group and its limitations.
Appendix A & B in this document shows the difference between users and power users.
3. Differences between Win2000 and NT:
For XP and lower, the answer is correct. However, Win 7 increases the security checking. This note may need update now.
If your system setting does not allow writing to some system path, it is too bad that the user has to enter license server details on every login. Better negotiate with IT team to find a solution.
