Use of authorization group in tile Manage Posting Periods not working for specific journal entries

Dear SAP,

We want to limit employees of our organization to post in previous periods for certain general ledger accounts. For this we are using special periods and an authorization group.

In this example we want to avoid that employees can post to general ledger account DIGITS in a previous period. In the tile Manage Posting Periods we have made set up Adjustment Periods for general ledger account DIGITS with an authorization group. And we have given only a few employees access rights to post in the adjustment periods.

However, what we see if an employee creates a CO posting in app Reassign Costs and Revenues in one of the adjustment periods and has no authorization for the authorization group assigned, that this employee does not get an authorization message that he/she is not allowed to post in an adjustment period. We would expect that also at a CO posting an authorization message comes up, as also a financial document will be created in general ledger.

Why?

Review kba 2598676 - Manage Posting Periods Authorization

in full.

See referenced therein the following stated

..

  • If no Authorization Group is specified for user, for example Write Access Unrestricted for role with object Authorization Group for Posting in Adjustment Periods, user can post in both periods 1 and 2

  • If a user is assigned two roles, one for which Write access is restricted and Authorization Group for Posting in adjustment Periods is blank or <Not Maintained>, as well as a second role for which there’s no Write restrictions for Authorization Group for Posting in adjustment Periods, then the user can post in both Periods 1 and 2.
