Dear Experts,
We are working on a requirement for Resource Scheduling for one of our client.
SAP has 3 products available i.e. MRS , FSM and RSH.
Can someone tell me what are the usages of those and the differences between them?
Thanks and Regards,
S Kumar

Hi S Kumar,
MRS 10 has an end of life for SAP S/4HANA in 2030 (for versions until SAP S/4HANA 2023) and for SAP ECC in 2027, with the option of extended maintenance until 2030, hence we are not actively positioning this solution for new customers. With that we have two successors, SAP S/4HANA Asset Management for resource scheduling (RSH), and SAP Field Service Management (FSM). At a high level, the natural successor for MRS is SAP RSH for in plant maintenance operations and SAP FSM for field service related operations. Here is a blog I wrote on the topic which goes into much more detail. You can also find a demo video of RSH here, and FSM demo videos here.
Hope this helps,
Thanks,
Ryan

Hello Ryan,
I am analyzing these products mentioned in the post question for implementation in my organization.
As far as I could see the SAP MRS 10.0 has as successor according to the PAM the “SAP Multiresource Scheduling, optimizer version 1.0 for SAP S/4HANA (SAP MRS W/OPT FOR S4HANA 1.0)” and this in turn as successor in the PAM does not yield any product, although its maintenance is until 31.12.2030.
The question is, if I have in my ECC 6.0 implemented SAP MRS 9.0 or 10.0 and I have to make the system conversion to S/4HANA 2023 (for example) to continue with the SAP roadmap in the ERP strategy, to which product is converted the MRS 9.0 or 10.0? This is not entirely clear. Would it have to be converted to “SAP MRS W/OPT FOR S4HANA 1.0”? Or to “SAP S/4HANA Asset Management for resource scheduling (RSH)”? In the latter case can the conversion be done or is a new product implementation required for this RSH?
Thanks in advance,
Kind regards!
Sebastián.
Hi Radhakmk,
It is possible to continue using SAP MRS (SAP MRS FOR S4HANA 1.0) with an end of mainstream maintenance unitl 31.12.2030. This is applicable for versions of SAP S/4HANA until SAP S/4HANA 2023. For SAP ECC the EoMM is 31.12.2027, with the option of extended maintenance until 31.12.2030 (this would have additional costs/contract, etc.). For a conversion from SAP ECC to SAP S/4HANA, this would be possible but best to discuss with your dedicated account team on what makes most sense for your company. Generally we would advise customers to start planning to migrate from SAP MRS to SAP FSM, or SAP RSH, more info in this blog.
Kind regards,
Ryan
