Hello,
I have a journal entry vouchers with a foreign language (Hebrew) that i'm trying to upload to my tenant.
I know that i can download the template from sap and copy the data to the excel they offer to upload the data correctly. but i was wondering if there is a way to do that automatic without copying every time all the data to the template (so i wont have to copy everytime i get a new journal entry voucher).
Is there a way to create a model such as I will only have to upload the excel without copying the data into the original template of sap?
If so, where should i investigate to achieve this goal?
Thank you very much,
Dor Alon
Hello Dor,
you could send the ByD Excel template to the colleagues providing the regular journal entry voucher - format changes rarely. Might be the easiest approach.
Alternative 1 - but this is not a best practice and up to you to decide if acceptable: The journal entry voucher has a "little brother", the Manual Tax Entry. Assuming you are using non-taxable tax codes, it won't affect your tax filing (but will show up there...), and it allows you to use a File Input (more here or here).
Alternative 2 - use the Cloud Application Studio (as a partner) and let them create a file input for the Journal Entry Voucher.
The idea you have is not bad, I like it. But if you are familiar with Microsoft Visual Basic, why not extending the Excel JEV with such?
Best regards,
Thomas

Dear Tomas,
I really appreciate your help, and for opening my eyes for the many features of SAP BYD and for the solution of my problem.
Finally, to make my customer more comfort, i have created an OData service in their tenant, and created a script that will run and link between their data in their excels sheet to their system.
(They will have to upload a lot of data each month and running the script will do it automatically).
Thank you for you time!

Hello Dor,
have you tried storing the Excel template (it isn't really a template in the sense of Excel) locally at your PC? You should be able to create copies of this local version, meaning you can fill it out once (for regular postings) and then reuse it each month end - provided you take a copy before you save it.
Does this work for you?
Best regards,
Thomas

Hello Thomas,
I have thought about it.
but the company get a new excel list of entry voucher every month (with the same template)
i'm trying to find a way to make it easy for uploading. without the need of taking the data from the new excel to my template.
something like: upload the xml file --> press "upload" in the system --> and the system will map automatic the right fields.
if the solution will be with a development, i just need a path to learn it. (I'm new to SAP BYDesign and I'm still studying its abilities).
Thank you for you answer,
Dor Alon
