Hi,
We are upgrading a S4 Hana from 1909 to 2023, and nowadays the PRD environment has a online replication of the DB to a Disaster Recovery in another location.
Is it necessary to disconnect online replication until the end of the shadow write instance to the database or can online replication be kept connected during the entire upgrade? If disconnection is recommended, I would appreciate the reasons and ideally documentation on the matter.
Thank you very much in advance.
Request clarification before answering.
Hi,
To my knowledge, Yes it is a best practice to disconnect replication.
Instance 1 : For some reason Upgrade fails and not able to recover the primary server, you will have a DR safe copy to start the Server as on.
Instance 2 : After successful Upgrade, if any module raising an inconsistency or wrong values showing in the system you can always start the DR server as standalone and then compare the values.
