Universal parallel accounting activation in S/4HANA Cloud, Public edition

Hello Experts,

Can green field customer for S/4HANA Cloud, Public edition select whether they activate Universal parallel accounting or not? Will it be installed as default and cannot deactivate if they use multiple ledgers and accounting principles with additional scope item 1GA or 2VA?

Hello dear user,

And thank you for asking your question in the SAP community blog.

For greenfield implementations of SAP S/4HANA Cloud, Public Edition, Universal Parallel Accounting (UPA) is automatically active and can't be switched off. It's part of the core architecture now, so customers don’t get to choose whether or not to use it - it comes enabled by default.

This applies even if you plan to use additional scope items like 1GA (Alternative Accounting Principles) or 2VA (Parallel Valuation). Those scope items build on top of UPA; they don't replace it or offer a way around it.

In short: if you're starting fresh on S/4HANA Public Cloud, you're working with Universal Parallel Accounting whether you're using multiple ledgers or not.
