Unable to reverse the GR against process order on previous date.

Dear PP Gurus,

  We have a cutomised T code  for confirmation reversal.Where we can post the revrsal on ony posting date. The issue is as below. The user confirmed some qty let say 1000 KG in previous month. A perticular order was confirmed incorrectly on 30.09.2012 for 100 KG. The user revrsed the FG posting (102) on 01.10.2012 by mistake.

Because of this entry the month end stock was not matching.Since we had to close the month we wanted to cancel this reversal and post it on 30.09.2012.

-We cancelled the document thru MBST it gave 101 movement on 01.10.2012. then tried posting 102 to on 30.09.2012 but system was giving deficit of  stock.Reversed this entry thrugh MBST.

-While doing MBST gave the posting date as 30.09.2012.then posted the 102 on 30.09.2012.System allowed.But there was 101 mvt for 100KG and 102 Mvt for 100 KG on 30.09.2012 so this didnt solve the purpose.

-We created a seperate Prc order for 100 KG posted the GRN on 01.10.2012 and then did BMST for the wrong reversal,after.that reversed the wrong confirmation on 30.09.2012. Sytem allowed.

Here i am not understanding why system didnot allow in the first case and allowed after we did GRN in this month. The stock was present on the posting date 30.09.2012 in all the cases.

Also you explanation and your screen shots are not in agreement.

You did an extra 101 with posting date 30.09.2012, you didn't mention that. (5005021206)

Dear Sharat,

    I was posting 102 not 101. so there is no question of qty reserved. There should be enough  101 done against the order to do 102. I mean to say I just wanted to reverse the confirmation for the order.

The purpose was to reverse the stock on 30.09.2012 so that the closing balance becomes zero for the last month. reason being physically this qty was not there it was a wrong 101.By mistake the reversal happened on 01.10.2012. So there was a 100 KG closing stock for last month. after the second case still there was a closing stock of 100 KG.So it didnt solve the purpose.

Let me put it in sequence of activities, say initial stock is zero

Posting date - mvt - qty       - stock (initial - 0)  - remarks

30/09/2012 - 101  - 100 Kg  - 100                    - initial correct stock posting

01/09/2012 - 102  - 100 Kg  - 0                       - reversed with wrong posting date

01/09/2012 - 101 - 100 Kg  -  100                   - Mat doc cancelled

01/09/2012 - 102 - 100 Kg    - 0                     - reversed for new proc order

30/09/2012 - 101 - 100 Kg   - 100                   - posted with 30/09

30/09/2012 - 102 - 100 Kg - 0                        - reversed doc

01/09/2012 - 101 - 100 Kg - 100                     - with new process order

30/09/2012 - 102 - 100 Kg - 0                        - reversed finally with cnf cancel

If you analyze here, ultimately considering prime 101 and 102,

first 101 on 30/09/2012 for 100 Kg which is neutralized by 102 of proc order cnf cancellation with posting date 30/09/2012.

And 102 of 01/09/2012 was neutralized by 101 of proc order posting on 01/10/2012.

If you see overall you tried to cancel material document for initial 102 which will not allow you to change posting date in MBST.

Instead if you would have tried with manual transaction of posting additional stock on 01/10/2012 and then try to reverse the stock on 30/09/2012 using MB1C or MB31 also it would have worked. Instead of this you achieved it by creating additional order and fulfilled the requirement.

When you cancel material document it will not allow you to change date.

  I was able to change the posting date to 30.09.2010 in the secod case during MBST and it generated a 101 movement on 30.09.2012 also.

  I agree with your logic. but there was more than 1000qty 101 ie GR  done against the order on 20.09.2012 which was showing to me if I select MB31 ,102 with to order(oreder number), but it was not allowing me to post the 102 for even 100Kgs on 30.09.2012. why was system not allowing this and why there was a need for postng additional 100 KGs on 01.10.2012.

Hi Ankush,

Reason being already period 09/12 is closed? Check if it was closed that time and then it was allowed?

You might have got error as posting not possible in this period or what was the error you got when you tried initially.

Or any error related to quality lot posting? Kindly let me know the error message.

Hi Ankush,

Id this available quantity is committed to any other reservation which i not allowed to reverse? So when you did 100 Kg additional posting that time system allowed you to reverse. There are many possibilities, it needs to check in detail and understand.

Dear,

If you want to post document to previous period, you need to reopen the old period back using MMPV.

and FI posting period in OB52

Go to transaction MMRV and for your company code you can allow posting to previous period.

You can change the posting date MB31 or MIGO

First cancel the material document which was created for Cancellation of GR in this period using MBST, transaction. Use transaction MB31 Movement type 102, and in the Intial screen give Posting date as a suitable date in last period, and perform the normal posting.
