Dear experts,
I am currently experiencing something weird in the time dependent tab of the asset master data.
Via AS02 I am trying to add more intervals on the time dependent data however the "valid to"field is missing. Only the valid from field is shown on the screen and can be inputted.
has anyone experienced this? If so please help me show the valid to field in the time dependent tab of the asset master data.
thank you,

Hi Natalie,
you cannot set the "valid-to" date in AS02, it is created SAP internally as the day before the new "valid-from" date.
Nevertheless, if you add a new time interval for an asset you can see a new entry in table ANLZ. The "valid-from" date is displayed in ANLZ-ADATU, the "valid-to" date in ANLZ-BDATU.
The newest time intervall is always valid to 31.12.9999 which should be sufficient for all of us ;-))

Hi experts,
can I also create a retrospective interval?
Issue is:
Asset is assigned to a wrong internal order. How should I proceed?
To create a new interval with the correct IO is clear. My question is can I create a new interval from 1st of Jan 2014 or I have to create an interval with an actual date and post manual corrections with the correct IO?
Thank you
Hi Anita,
is the assignment wrong within the actual fiscal year? If yes, try to change the wrong order number to thecorrect one without creating a new interval, I guess (but I am not sure) the next depr. run will correct the depr. posting for the actual fiscal year.
Has the new correct order different balance sheet relevant assignments than the old one (eg Profit-center, segment, business area differs but thats only relevant if you create balance sheets for these entities)?
I am not sure what happens at the BS accounts if you make the order change but give it a try in a test environment.

Hi Diwa and Christian,
I tried the link but unfortunately the infoset in HR master data is only for Company Car and I can only assign one asset there per pesonnel.
Thank you,

Hi Natalie,
Probably what you can do is to create one personnel number (dummy) in the name of the company and use the same as follows.
1. When the asset is issued to an employee, enter his personnel number and the valid from date.
2. When the employee resigns, enter the dummy number and the valid date as the date from which that employee ceased to use the laptop.
3. When the laptop is assigned to a new employee, then enter his personnel number and valid from date.
This may help you in the scenario explained by you,
Regards,
Hi Natalie,
you define the "objects on loan" subtypes in HCM customizing (eg mobile phone =01, laptop = 02, comp. car = 03,...) some of them are already predefined from SAP.
If the validation against asset accounting is active ("Y" in PE03) you can use IT0040 to assign objects on loan to an employee (one object per type for a give time intervall). Thus you can assign 01, 02, 03, to an employee not only a single object. And if your employee needs 2 mobile phones, define to object on loan types (eg mobile phone1 = "01", mobile phone2 = "11") and assign the mobile phones (one for type 01 on for type 11) to the employee.
Nevertheless this is for reporting purpose, the asset accounting master record still belongs to the cost center in asset master, not to the one from the employee in HCM.
Best regards, Christian
Hi,
I agree with Christian that would be the better option.

Hi Diwa and Christian,
Scenario is when the company acquires an office equipment for example a laptop, I will assign the asset to a personnel using the time dependent tab. However, if the said personnel resigned I need to end the validity at the date of his/her resignation. With this I can extract a report of the accountability of the said personnel and also a list of assets that are available or those assets with no personnel assignment within a given period.
thank you,

Hi,
IN this case enter valid start date and leave it. In future if a person resigns and then that asset will be given to new person.here enter the valid start date for the new employee so that previous employee valid date will be ended one day before the new employ start-date. i hope it helps you.

Hi Natalie,
look at this one (the post from Atif), the point is the assignmet happens not in the asset master data but in HCM (infotype 40).

Hi,
This is common here you have to enter valid from only
For ex: if a asset cost center is changed for particular period 1st jan to 31st march in this case you have to enter valid from 1st jan and second line item this asset will replaced with new cost center so here enter 1April and new cost center in this you have differentiate. i hope it helps you.
