Hi, if a client is currently reaching the end of the material document range for a set of material documents and the year is set to the default of 9999 how should we go about selecting a new number range?
We don't want to restart the number range, because of the possibility of documents that may over lap given the high volume of documents created and the length of time that some material documents may remain open.
Is there a specific number range that may be available that we could switch to that SAP dosen't have defaulted in the standard system? Or is the best option to reuse the number range, or is that possible since we designated the to year as 9999?
Thanks

Hello sapocho
A material document is uniquely identified by its number and a year. Therefore you can use the same number range for each year, i.e. each year the numbering starts with the beginning of a number range.
As you are in a high material documents volume environment, I'd strongly recommend to number material documents by year and not to use a single number range valid till year 9999.

If current number collapsed- you can set to extend number range on current number by editing to TO NUMBER to higher ranges . For more Refer
