subcontracting BOM components in PO do not generate requirements

hello all

my scenario is the following:

I created a PO with several items, one of which is a subcontracting configurable item with its BOM components that must be shipped to the supplier.

configuration is correct and the list of components of the BOM appear in the material tab.

my problem is the following:

in MD04 I can see the subcontracting line for the components but even if the system sees that the component is needed (to be shipped to the supplier), it does not generate any requirement such as Preq or planned order.

in attachment an example: I can see the subcontracting line, there is no available stock but the requirement is not generated

Phantom assemblies are used for BOM explosion. They are not stockable, they are not shipped nor planned in MRP. You plan, stock, move and consume the components of the phantom and not the phantom.

Thus their requirements or the phantom assembly itself are not relevant to MRP and normally not even visible in MRP or MD04. In your case you see them in MD04 in a different segment, for planning without final assembly, not relevant for MRP.  Probably caused by a setting of the 'Mixed MRP indicator' (MARC-MISKZ) in the material master, affecting the display in MRP/MD04 even without a matching setting of the planning strategy.

You might want to (re-)consider:

Do you really want to ship the phantom?

Why do you expect MRP to plan it?

Do you really want to plan the phantom with 'planning w/o final assembly' (SAP help describes scenarios where it is useful).

Is the component set up as phantom assembly (special proc. key 50 or similar) ? And uses planning strategy 'Planning at Phantom Assembly" (strategy 59 or similar)? In this case have a look at the documentation for the planning strategy and reconsider your settings for the components and your planning process.

hello, thank you for your reply. the material is indeed phantom (sobsl = 50) but there is no planning strategy. does that make a difference?
