I do not believe there is any restriction as long as business have separate location and processes to manage customer stocks and mixed with own stocks -you should be okay.
if own stock and customer stock stored at same location or space - i do not see any advantage -also you need to consider how storage location will be managed e.g. will it have centrally connected warehouse sharing same bin ? or 3PL shipping it for you can you need record consumption think all possible scenarios and business requirements before making a separate storage location.
