Staging for production - best practice process partly unclear

I have two main questions regarding the staging process:

How to replenish the exact requirements for 1 (or also for more) production order(s) with the old MF60 transaction without manually defining the quantity to stage? As the whole supply area for production is IM-managed, the quantity proposal will always be incorrect and thus manual input for each component quantity is required. Even with future WM-supply areas, the issue will persist that it will require always a manual input of the amount to be staged.

It’s not possible to maintain create 1 control cycle for each supply area (staging indicator ‘3’, issuing storage location 255W, receiving storage location 251B).

A solution would be to maintain the control cycle on component level, but there is no migration template available (+100.000 entries).

Hello Mr. Koyen,

the topic in your first bullet point actually sounds like a use case for staging indicator "1 Pick Parts". This is calculated based on the required quantities from BOM in production orders.

Staging for production in combination with warehouse management (EWM) you need not setup a control cycle for each product. If you do not want to store the components in several distinguished storage bins at the production supply area (PSA), you can create a control cycle for combination of Plant and PSA (without material). Enter storage bin on same screen as the source storage location.

Correct, there was a response to the query, but actually no solution yet for the problems we encounter. For 2nd topic about supply areas I know by now that it's just a limitation from S4Hana Cloud that we are obliged for the moment to have 1 IM storage location per supply area we want to have. So we will start off with 1 storage location to backflush the entire shop floor and have 1 supply area and hopefully in 2002 release we can switch to WM supply areas.

Still, no solution yet for our first problem to stage the exact requirements for several production orders..

- I did indeed consider "1 Pick Parts". However, in S4Hana Cloud the supply areas are IM-managed, so the movement happens from Cloud WM > IM. This means that the only option we can choose in 'Stage materials for production' App is 'SLoc Level' and it seems this does not work with staging indicator '1', only with '3'. But then the net requirement calculated by the App will be wrong to stage for x-amount of orders specifically.

- Yes, we want indeed to maintain control cycle on (PSA/Plant)-level and not include the material (as we cannot upload the control cycles and don't have an API for it). Unfortunately, as above message (print screen) indicates: if you are staging from EWM > IM only 1 control cycle can be created per IM storage location. Logically we don't want to create 1 storage location per supply area (work center).

Keeping above two issues in mind, it is hard to imagine how other projects handled this situation or what SAP's intention was as best practice to implement it as such. So, all feedback is still welcome!
