Outstanding Excellence of This Forum, Even with These Problems
This forum is one of the finest forums on the internet in terms of the value of the content and the quality of how content is presented using the forum's tools. Unfortunately, these extraordinary achievements are tarnished by some hard-to-avoid flaws in the editing tools.
I have used more than 100 different forums since the internet first started providing this sort of application. I also have a special interest in this kind of software. This is how I know I am qualified to offer the evaluation I just posted. My hope is the outstanding development capability at SAP will be applied to taking the necessary steps to boost this application into a level of excellence very few have a realistic opportunity to achieve. If you do this, this site will be appreciated and respected at a very high level, instead of now being seen as a mixed bag of excellence with some unfortunate and unnecessary flaws.
The two contacts I had with the flaws appear in the first question I have posted since this site was updated with significant improvements a few months ago. When the upgrade was applied, I was already seeing a level of excellence much greater than what I thought was realistic to expect. None of my assignments at my employer required the use of SAP products since the update was applied here, until yesterday
Problems Appeared!
.The question I posted yesterday is at this URL: There was no problem when I posted the question.
Someone wrote a fabulous response to the question. This is where the flaws arose. The first problem I saw was a horrible block of code posted wrapped in a narrow column of a tall, thin object with a pink background. I don't know what I did to cause that, but it was hideous. I tried three times to delete it by clicking on an X icon in the upper right of the object, which caused nothing to happen, that I could see. It was as if the X icon was a dead image. Now, the pink blob is gone. I wonder if clicking on the X icon actually deleted the nasty object but failed to respond in any way when I clicked on it, but then later had the effect of deleting the object. The pink blob, the attached image, I cannot now see how to place where it belongs in this post.
The other problem was reported by the expert writer who posted a fantastic answer to my question. That person added a note that said: "I answered this question. Then I edited my answer to format some code. And now my answer is gone. No draft, nothing." The odd thing about this is I see two copies of the answer posted in the thread I started. I suspect that like the apparently dead X icon on my nasty pink blob, the person's excellent answer might have been recovered but not made visible at the relevant time.
Most software shops lack the commitment to excellence needed for you to investigate the problems I am reporting. The usual mistake is to assume the problem is isolated to the other person and me because you are not getting many notices like this one. It takes a long time to write this notice, and most of the time, people don't put the time in to provide this feedback. I will bet anyone with the courage the problems I am reporting affect many users of this forum. I sincerely hope you fix it.
