SHD0 - Personal settings of ME52N transaction variant

Good day,

We have a requirement to create a transaction variant for ME52N in SHD0. One of the requirements is to remove the "Personal Settings" button. However, we noticed that the personal setting (Item overview as grid control) in the actual ME52N is still affecting the variant.

Is there a way to set a global setting for this so that whenever the user uses the variant, the "Item overview as grid control" is still unticked?

Or

Is there a way to set a default value for "Item overview as grid control"?

Thank you in advance.

Hello @dperez57

You can hide "Personal Setting" with ME51N and/or ME52N transaction variants.

Define ME51N transaction variant and deactive the "Personal Setting" function there:

Assign the transaction variant as the standard variant:

ME51N without the standard variant, the button is visible:

ME51N with the standard variant, the button is hidden:

If you need to restrict access to personal settings in purchase requisition processing, it is the easiest and the least intrusive method.

Thank you for this, Dominik. However, according to business, some users can also access ME52N (hence, they can also access the "Item overview as grid control" setting). Issue is that, they may be a chance where a user (with access to ME52N and has ticked "Item overview as grid control"), goes to the variant and can edit fields that are supposed to be output only. We also cannot set the fields as output only if "Item overview as grid control" is ticked according to this SAP note: https://me.sap.com/notes/1885057

Hello @dperez57

You can also use a standard transaction variant for ME52N to hide the "Personal Setting" button.

It is also possible to make the checkbox display only:

That can be done with a screen variant:

The screen variant is then assigned to a transaction variant:

Finally the variant is activated as a standard variant:

The same can be done for ME51N and/or ME53N.
