Serial number management and traceability requirement

Hello,

We have a requirement as explained below with an example.

Say there are 5 parts/ components of a final assembly and all of them have got their unique serial numbers. They all are inhouse produced. Final Assembly is also Serial number managed. There is a Production order of 100 Final Assembly. Now those 5 components in the quantity of 100 will be issued to the Production order. Is it possible to track/ trace for each Serial number of Final Assembly, what serial numbers of components are used? Is it possible to do it in S/4HANA alone or some other SAP components are also required?

Shoyeb,

You create a serial number profile in the IMG (or use an existing SNP) that dictates how the serial numbers are to be managed. Then you assign the SNP to the 5 components in the Plant Data/Storage 2 tab.

The depending on the SNP settings, you will be required to enter a serial number when moving the components around in the SAP system - this is the traceability you require..
