Pardon my french, but our business is currently sitting on a pile of doo-doo with material data. There are things that we know better now that we didn't know back then with serial number profile. We're grasping at straws to implement safety nets, checks, reviews to prevent discrepancies in serial/batch data but the issue still persists.
Currently I'm having to conduct data cleanups that involve multiple teams to pull out stock, deliveries, PO, purchase req, etc. to remediate this one field. It's vey not fun. Sometimes even after all of that heavy lifting, SAP still wont let us remediate serial/batch because of metadata. (Please no comments about 'archiving' because our business does not want us archiving data.)
I've also just recently learned that these data inconsistencies have created a bigger mess for those on the production floor working on work orders who are also having to monkey around in our systems to find some sort of workaround with the conflicting data between our systems.
I saw somewhere in a spiceworks forum that SAP provides a tool/software that you can implement that can fix this. If anyone here knows about it please please please share the link, name, anything. Spending a couple thousand on a program I think is so much better than wasting several thousand on scrapping a part due to data inconsistencies.
