Scheduling after Activity Confirmation in SAP S/4HANA

Hi experts,

We have a problem with project scheduling. after actual confirmation for activities and schedule project, WBS dates are re-scheduled and start with the start of activities without confirmation. our scenario is bottom-up and we don't want to use top-down. How can we use the activity's actual start date for the WBS basic start date?
The image below shows this problem.

There several configuration items you have to get in sync to get the WBS dates to strictly follow the Network Activity dates.

1.  Network Scheduling Parameters, I primarily use backwards scheduling since the end date is usually the anchor.  And enter 999 for "start date in the past" so it won't force past dates to start today..

2. WBS Scheduling Profile - same basic settings with Network Determines Dates

3. Project Profile - Since the NWAs are calculating the dates I always use Strict Bottom Up. And Free Scheduling in the WBS Scheduling Scenario.

Exactly, that's what I also always recommend to do in such scenarios.

In addition you have to reschedule the WBS/project in order to push the dates bottom-up to the WBS. Else only the activity will keep the actual dates. If you don't want to do that manually, the indicator "automatic scheduling at saving" may fulfill that. But that depends on your overall project scheduling processes, so it should be handled with care.

Hi Ali

In scheduling, SAP always uses the current date as the start date, never dates in the past. Therefore, any activity that has not started yet and was previously scheduled to start in the "past" will be scheduled to start in the current date.

To update scheduled dates in WBS element, it is necessary to extrapolate dates. This function involves "pushing up" the scheduled dates from the activities to the WBS element.

Hi, if activities/WBS are scheduled in the past or not highly depends on the settings (see the indicator "start in the past" in Kens post).
