SAPCAR: can not create directory (error 3). Permission denied

Hello Experts,

In our SAP Test system, we're getting the error "SAPCAR: can not create directory (error 3). Permission denied" for all the .SAR files during the extraction into the /usr/sap/trans/EPS/in Directory (SUM Phase: PREP_PRE_CHECK/SCANDIR_EPS0).

Actually, our trans DIR (/usr/sap/trans/EPS/in) belongs to PROD System and it is mounted also to our Test System. We also adjusted the OS users in /etc/passwd and /etc/Group files with reference to the PROD System and also verified the same with SMITTY tool (AIX). But unable to resolve this permission issue.

Any ideas are appreciated.

Thanks sreenivas

Hi Sreenivas,

You must be running SUM with <sid>adm user on your test system. It's best to have same UID and GID for for <sid>adm user and sapsys group on your test and prod system.

If that can't be done now, you need to give "others" permission to the directory in subject. Although, I wonder your usual transports must be working with current setup or is it a new one/newly changed one?

Hi Reddy.

1. Check the user id permission and also try to use the SAP SIDADM user id.

2. If possible uncar the SAR file in windows system and then copy the same to EPS folder.
