Greetings,
when creating a Work Clearance Application (WCA) from transaction WCTK or WCR5 the field usage is mandatory. In WCM customizing we have set up a default value for WCA usage based on plant - object - object type combination.
No custom field selection settings have been made. We are using custom view profiles. We have several maintenance plants and several maintenance planning plants. All using standard WCM model.
Regardless of the settings in customizing the filed usage is mandatory as shown in picture below:

I have checked our local IDES system in which usage field is not mandatory. Actually it is not even displayed:

I had already spent hours trying to figure out the differences in customizing and at this point any help would be greatly appreciated.
Best regards,
Matjaz.

I did have another go at customizing and I have discovered the solution. All my usages for WCA were marked as operational. I had to change them to undefined and now it works like a charm.

One must pay attention to assign view profiles and number ranges in other settings.

Could be because the systems are at different patch levels, or because a Switch is active in one of the systems..
Get your ABAP team to check the screen differences. That may tell you why there is a field difference.
