for best practices you will need an S-User account then you can review them here for s/4 HANA Private or public - there is no charge to review the process flows you just need access to an S-user account from you company for instance.

I am not aware of free resources released by SAP.

Best practices are not available for the on-Premise S/4 Retail specifically.
