SAP PPDS Tank Planning Batch production

Hi experts,

I have a requirement for a project of ePPDS, I'm in a batch production mode, and need to use tank planning for the following scenario:

Operation 1: Production of a Semi Finished (Cream) on a production resource (Resource 1), this activity is occuring in parallel with the filling of a Tank with the produced quantity

Operation 2: Rest Time in the Tank for the cream

Operation 3: Draining of Tank

To model this in ePPDS I think I should put in the routing the activity of production (on Resource 1) to be in parallel with Filling activity (on Tank Resource) and also the Operation 2 and 3 in the same routing of the semi finished.

1st question : The question is which type of control key I need to use for each filling and draining activities on the Tank ?

2nd question : I did also the needed custo in SPRO to enable the tank planning, but is there any other tasks to do especially to correctly generate the 'Product Storage Definition' via the PDS ?

PS : The Tank resource is a storage resource (CUV02)

Any help or hints are highly appreciated!

Best Regards

It seems to be a process industry. Try to model using a recipe. Consider maintaining Start-to-Start (SS) relationship between the filling and production phases. Set the consumption type to 'C' in the Product Storage Definition (PSD). Resting time can be in same recipe. Maintain Draining as first operation in the higher level (FG?) BOM recipe with a Finish-to-Start (FS) relationship between resting and draining phase. Resource for resting and draining is same in this case, but in different recipes.

1. PI01 control key can be used.
2. Configuring storage location is mandatory and must be assigned to the tank resource. If you want the system to automatically generate the PSD during Product Data Structure (PDS) generation, go to the SPRO transaction /SAPAPO/TPCUST and enable the "Generate Production Storage Definition During PDS Generation" option. While consumption types can be set to default in same configuration, I prefer to maintain them manually in /SAPAPO/STORDEF for better tank wise accuracy

Other fields in resource master to consider - Under the capacity header, the available capacity in terms of volume and quantity fields, Storage characteristics and Resource category = 'Warehouse'.

After planned order generation, check the result in fill chart - detailed scheduling board.

Thank you Chaitra, Indeed I succeeded before to manage this, I did exactly like you said, and the issue I had is that I didn't have the draining operation as 1st operation in the recipe
