SAP PM MRO Inventory Spares

How do we create a MRO Inventory for our equipment and maintenance workers? We have inventory for production and it is fully implemented with everything. I thought we could create a storage location and configure it for an MRP that will not report to costing or any financing. Making it able for us to purchase on our own and create materials,  and do our own inventory and cycle counts.

I am told I cannot create any SLoc without it being wholly part of production and reporting cost.

Of course you can create new material types and storage locations to manage your spare parts, as with both info you segregate systemically what belongs to maintenance and production.

SAP does not have restrictions on doing that, and all the separation necessary to not affect the MRP planning of production materials, for instance, can all be managed using SAP standard capabilities.
