SAP Data retrieval inconsistency

Hi Experts!

I recently encountered a discrepancy in data I retrieved with two methods on SAP Netweaver:
1) SE16 transaction and 2) RFC_READ_TABLE function

The RFC_READ_TABLE missed some of the rows which SE16 showed. There were no filters used, no truncation, and the data requested was just the BELNR column of the BSEG table. The same client was used to authorize the retrieval. Anyone knows what could be a cause as to why some rows are not extracted via RFC_READ_TABLE?

RFC_READ_TABLE is not official, security concerns, it's very limited (truncations, etc.) Many workarounds have been discussed in the forum (e.g. not using RFC_READ_TABLE).

Thank you for the reply Sandra! Do you have any links with relevant discussion you mentioned, would be really helpful! We would like to use existing options, so creating a custom RFC module would not work

SAP doesn't offer any official way to access tables generically. Solutions: access the database directly (custom solution) instead of going to it indirectly through the ABAP system or develop a custom RFC-enabled function module.
