the definition of Required Inventory in SAP B1 Help is so vague that i cannot determine how to use it correctly - can someone explain how it will work - and how MRP will use it if at all vs. Minimum Inventory??
Hi,
The system considers this Required Stock Level when you issue Purchase Order and suggests automatically the appropriate quantity missing in stock in order to match the required level.e.g. if the required stock level of a certain item is 10 units but you currently have only 4 units of this item in your warehouse then when you select this items in a Purchase Order the system will automatically suggests 6 unit to be purchased.
Hope it somewhat clarifies.
If you have more specific questions regarding your issue, please do update us with the it so that we can investigate you with results on the same.

Be careful with the MRP it can increase your inventory substantially if you don't monitor it line by line when reviewing the recommendation report. When you have 12,000 items it can be time consuming.

*(But the MRP does not take in account the open purchase orders already entered if your S.O.'s date(s) is outside of the window of Open P.O.'s already entered) *
